Why We Built Birdy
We built BirdyOne because we used and worked on those big gig apps—and I was shocked at how much they take from workers (30-60%) while charging customers sky-high prices. It felt wrong.
So we wanted to create a fairer alternative: workers keep 85-90%, clients pay less, everyone wins.
Why the name Birdy
We originally thought of 'Freedom App' or 'Free Birds' because workers should be free from those greedy commissions. But those names didn't feel natural to say: 'Let me get the Freedom App for plumbing?' Nah.
Then we tested 'Birdy' with hundreds of people—workers, clients, especially women—and 99% lit up. It's cute, friendly, memorable, and the bird still nods to that idea of freedom: quick, independent, flying above the corporate nonsense.
Our Story
BirdyOne was born from frustration on both sides of the marketplace. As customers, we were fed up with sky-high prices and hidden fees for everyday services—like plumbing, rides, home-cooked food, or short-term rentals—where the cost felt exorbitant and the service often fell short.
As workers on those same big apps, we saw talented pros lose 30-40% (or more) of their earnings to corporate commissions, struggling despite customers paying premium rates.
It simply wasn’t fair: why should customers overpay just so workers get underpaid? That’s why we built BirdyOne—a better way for everyone.
Pros keep 85-90% of what they earn, staying motivated to do great work. We take far less, so customers get better service at lower prices. When workers are treated fairly, they show up happier and more reliable—delivering faster, friendlier, and more affordable experiences.
BirdyOne isn’t just another app. It’s a community where pros earn more and customers pay less.
Our Vision
We envision a world where local communities thrive on their own terms. Birdy isn’t just an app—it’s a platform for local commerce, helping independent businesses grow and customers find quality service right in their neighborhood. We believe in transparency, fairness, and putting people before profit.
